9/11 Simplicity

Simplicity

This shot is a good example of "Simplicity"
because the photo is just a shot of the buildings
and the background is solid so you focus solely on
the buildings and nothing else.

Ethics in age of digital maniplation

1. the Article was mainly about photo shopping and why people have gotten in trouble from it over the years for being unethical

2. I don't think its ethical, because its pretty much lying to the society. I don't understand why the have to lie, or twist it to be more interesting. Especially with out a persons consent

This was the most unethical in my opinion. I don't understand why they messed
with her photo, and with out consent.

This photo to me was the least unethical, because all they did
was darken the photo, I don't  understand how it could
offend, or harm anyone.

Camera History & Info

The Camera

1. Camera obscura is Latin for "dark room". This was the first camera. The hole acted like a lens, focusing and projecting light onto the wall.

2. Modern Camera

3. glass lens, dark box, & film

4. They work the same. Light passes through the lens, into the camera, and exposes the film.

5. electronic sensor called a CCD.

Camera Modes

6. Old fashioned cameras have one mode.. manual. Camera settings would have to be figured out by the photographer, along with focus.

7. attempt to blur out background, camera will try to use the fastest available lens setting

8. To freeze motion, camera will use the highest shutter speed possible.

The Half Press

9. If the subject is somewhat off-centre, the auto-focus may be fooled, A half-press will tell the camera that you're almost ready to take a shot and to be prepared.

10. No flash (disabled) You would use it when you want to use the natural lighting

11. Auto flash enabled by default and will automatically fire if the camera thinks it needs more light.

Introduction to exposure

12. Not enough light, and The photo will be washed out.

13. Not enough light, and the picture will be too dark.

The Universal Stop

14. used in every aspect of photography to represent a relative change in the brightness of light.

15. 1

16. 2

Shutters & Apperture

17. Long shutter speed = more light

18. short shutter speed = less light

19. the aperture is like a pupil. You can control it by setting "aperture opening"

20. smaller f-stops numbers = larger openings = more light

The Camera

Camera : device that records images that can be stored directly, transmitted to another location, or both.

Light : that is visible to the human eye, and is responsible for the sense of sight.

Photograph :image created by light falling on a light-sensitive surface, usually photographic film

Image Sensor : device that converts an optical image into an electronic signal

Aperture :A space through which light passes in an optical or photographic instrument, esp. the variable opening by which light enters a camera.

Shutter :device that allows light to pass for a determined period of time, for the purpose of exposing photographic film

Exposure :he state of being exposed to contact with something

Depth in field :distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image

F-stop :focal length divided by the "effective" aperture

Focal Length: measure of how strongly the system converges or diverges light.

First Photos (Best & Worst)

What I like about this photo is the clarity & angle.
The lighteing is great & the angle of the shot is good too.
i like the way the wall of newspaper looks in the background.

This is my least favorite photo because the background is very plain
so that makes the picture a little boring. Also she isn't smiling !
i don't like the angle very much, but the background bugs me the most.
